TARS 1995 Field Day

From the July 95 Sparks.....

The 1995 Field Day was a great success and a lot of fun! The location was great, the weather was perfect, the food was good and we had a great time! It is amazing what you can do with 5 watts (SSB or CW)! Thanks to the Field Day committee Bob KA9TML, Joe KB9GMC, Greg KB9GNL, John W9FHA, and Brian WB9QVR. They did an outstanding job. Thanks also to Norm AA9CG for helping to secure the site and Greg KB9GNL who arranged for the gel cell batteries. Special thanks to the HAM STATION for loaning a rig and tunners. We should have over 5000 points when the bonus points are added to our score of 4655. Last year the highest score in our classification was 7000 points. Close to 30 hams attended. If you didn’t attend you missed a great time. Hope you can make it next year.

Well as it turned out TARS was in fourth nationally in the 3A Battery class. What a great showing. See the pictures in the scrapbook.

Field Day 1995

Terry Brook AA9MM and Brian Esche WB9QVR rack up the points on the way to 4th place in class 3A Battery.

First they blamed the antennas, then the radio! Jim Barrow W9CVN and John Small W9FHA re-hang the wire!

At last, a radio and antenna that get out! John W9FHA and Dan N9APA begin to crank out some CW contacts.
